Sandwell Mental Health People’s Parliament – our plans for the next twelve months
The Mental Health People’s Parliament will hold its next session on the 15th June 2017 at 10am – 1pm. The People’s Parliament is made up of MPs with lived experience of mental health, and is a strategic body with a powerful voice, which changes policy and shapes services in Sandwell. We have recently visited the Ministry of Justice to speak about mental health in prisons, developed plans for improving mental health provision in Sandwell and been working in coproduction with the local authority and the NHS clinical commissioning group.
Invitations will be sent out shortly; please get in touch if you would like to attend. We will be welcoming four new MPs with lived experience of mental health to the Parliament, as well as outlining the priorities for the People’s Parliament over the next 12 months. These include current work on a community place of safety for Sandwell and our involvement with Sandwell’s crisis care concordat. Further priorities, such as those put forward by the local authority and NHS clinical commissioning group, will also be discussed.
All Sandwell residents are welcome to attend to hear about the People’s Parliament’s current activities. Representatives from the local authority and NHS clinical commissioning group will also attend.
