In the last 20-30 years, some people with learning disabilities are living in their own homes, making their
own choices and have far more freedoms than in the past, but there is still a way to go until they have
access to the same opportunities as other people in society.

On 16th May we invited people with learning disabilities and families from Sandwell to step into the
Time Machine. In stepping into the future, we set our aspirations high and also thought about what life is
like today for people with learning disabilities.

This follow on event, Time Machine Part 2, brings people with learning disabilities and families together
with local professionals and others, to plan a future where aspirations are high and ordinary things like
employment and having my own home are part of people’s everyday lives.

It will be an opportunity for people to reflect on the past, see what progress has been made in the last
20-30 years and plan for the future together, linking people’s aspirations to Sandwell’s vision for 2030.
