The Bridging the Gap project gave children with learning disabilities the chance to take part in art activities to explore and celebrate their similarities and differences with their non-disabled peers. Children with the label profound and multiple learning disabilities were supported to take part in the art activities through a variety of different means for example, children who had no movement in their arms had painted balls attached to a string and then fixed to their wheelchair. When they moved across the canvas they created a rainbow of different colours. The children produced 3 canvases, a wall hanging and an accompanying short film charting the work of the project.
