Summary of the role

Works closely with the Changing Our Lives team to create engaging content for the organisation’s social media presence, including keeping social media channels updated and brand-focused, and seeking out new social media avenues and ways of connecting with audiences.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Improving public and supporter engagement with social media accounts
  • Develop, schedule and implement social media content working with the team
  • Coordinate, schedule and manage social media activity across channels including: Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content that builds connections and fosters loyalty and brand awareness
  • Sourcing and optimising images using Photoshop
  • Regular monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of our social channels, delivering monthly reports on social media activity and engagement
  • Continue to grow fans and followers across all social media platforms and find new strategies to do this
  • Work with the team and freelance designers to create social media content and campaigns
  • Research social media best practices, trends, tools, emerging platforms and internet culture and then implement them
  • Strong verbal communication skills including spelling, grammar, and punctuation, a good understanding of PR

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferably Marketing Students or experienced Social Media users / Bloggers
  • You have strong writing and editing skills that are suitable for each platform
  • Preferably good design skills on PhotoShop
  • You must be a social media whizz (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • You’re a big social media user and understand the difference between using it in personal and professional settings
  • You have basic design skills and are able to create basic images and content for social media (e.g. GIFs)
  • You have excellent organisational skills
  • It is desirable but not essential that you have prior experience working in social media content/management
  • You pay attention to detail
  • You’re creative and innovative, and you’re not shy to bring new ideas to the table
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and can cope under pressure
  • You’re self-motivated and able to work independently
  • You have a strong visual sense – you love art and design
  • Able to balance work and several projects and deadlines at a time
