All of our work with individuals seeks to enable them to have an ‘ordinary life’. This could mean anything from moving into their own home, making their first cup of tea after living in an institution for years or making new friends.

Read stories about people’s ordinary lives.

We take different approaches when working with individuals, dependent on circumstances. These include:

  • rights based advocacy
  • supporting people to gain and make the most of personal budgets and personal health budgets where a council or clinical commissioning group gives the person money to buy their own support
  • person centred planning – this is a plan unique to the individual, which draws on their strengths, and plans for their future
